Each is a 12 oz bag for $28 that ships free in the US, whole bean or ground. If you want the simplest chocolate cup for a house full of drinkers, start with Hegemony. How do the four differ?
They all taste of chocolate, but not the same chocolate. This table is label facts only, and it includes two coffees a buyer might weigh them against: No. 2 Good Sense, which lists milk chocolate but leans fruity, and No. 9 Optimism, which has no chocolate at all.

Which chocolate coffee should you buy?
- You want smooth and easy: Hegemony, for drip or cold brew.
- You want chocolate with a little fruit: Praxis or Common Sense.
- You want dark and earthy, for espresso or milk: Position.
- You want chocolate and fruit together in a sweeter, fruitier cup: Good Sense, though it sits outside our four.
The price is the same for all of them, so you are choosing by taste only. The full set is on the page for all ten coffees.
How do you brew them?
The roaster's suggestions come straight from the product notes.
- Common Sense: drip or French press, 60 g per litre, water just off the boil.
- Position: espresso 1:2 in 28 seconds, or a moka pot.
- Hegemony: drip, or cold brew at 1:8 overnight.
- Praxis: any method. Brew it twice, once at 60 g per litre and once at 70, and keep whichever you preferred.
For quantities, see the coffee ratio by brewing method chart, or the iced coffee ratio if you plan to pour it over ice. Dose for a whole pot is on how much coffee per cup.
Does chocolate on the label mean chocolate added?
No. The only ingredient on each bag is coffee. Chocolate is a tasting note, the kind of flavor the coffee reminds people of. If you want something with a flavor added, the one flavored coffee we sell is No. 5 Canela, which is a cinnamon roll flavor, not chocolate.
Should you subscribe?
If one of these becomes your daily bag, the subscription is 11% off, and you can skip or cancel in one click. If you are not sure yet, order one bag and decide after you have finished it. For smoothness without bitterness, smooth coffee beans that are not bitter has the longer story.
What does the label not say?
It does not give scores, grades or awards, and the roaster does not declare a roast level for Position, so we do not claim one. If chocolate is the note you are after, the label is a fair guide, and a single bag will settle which of the four is yours.
Start with one bag, and let the cup decide.
