Pulped natural means the cherry skin is taken off and some of the fruit is left on the seed as it dries in the sun. It sits between washed and natural in style, usually with some sweetness and a rounder body. What natural, washed and the other processes mean is on what body means in coffee.

How does it compare with our other coffees?

If you are weighing Brazil against Colombia or Guatemala, here is the side by side from the labels. All three are medium roast and $28 for 12 oz.

How do you brew it?

The roaster recommends drip, or cold brew at 1:8 overnight. For a drip machine, use the standard 1:16, which is 15 g (3 level tablespoons) per 8 oz mug. The full table is on the pillar page on how much coffee per cup, and for a big pot see how much coffee for 64 oz of water.

For cold brew, 1:8 is one part coffee to eight parts water by weight, for example 100 g of coffee with 800 g of water, steeped overnight in the fridge and then filtered. Dilute to taste. The ratio for other sizes is on cold brew ratio. If you are buying ground coffee for a machine, see single origin ground coffee for drip.

Who should buy it, and who should not?

Buy it if you brew a large pot, share coffee with people who have different tastes, or add milk. The roaster says it is the pot everyone in the house drinks without complaining, and that it is very hard to ruin, which is useful when the grind or the machine is not perfect. It is also the one to pick for cold brew, since the roaster names that method for it directly.

Skip it if you want bright, fruity or floral coffee. The label notes are cocoa and smooth, and the roaster describes low acidity. For fruit, look at which of our ten taste most like fruit. If you want something from Africa, our Tanzanian and Kenyan bags are covered on Tanzanian coffee beans and Kenyan coffee beans.

Whole bean or ground?

Whole bean keeps its flavor longer and lets you set the grind for your method. Ground is easier if you only own a drip machine and no grinder. Both are the same $28 and both ship free in the US. For drip, choose a medium grind. For cold brew, a coarse grind works best, so whole bean is the better pick if you have a grinder.

How much does a bag make?

A 12 oz bag is about 340 g. At 1:16, that is 15 g per 8 oz mug, so roughly 23 mugs, or close to 3 pots of 64 oz at 118 g each. For cold brew at 1:8, one bag takes about 2.7 kg of water, so it goes much faster. How long it lasts for one person is on how long a 12 oz bag of coffee lasts.

What about the subscription?

If a pot a day is your routine, the subscription is 11% off the $28, with skip or cancel in one click. You can also just order one bag. The rest of the lineup is on all ten coffees.
